Biafra Convention: Biafra will assent to all UN human rights treaties- Simon Ekpa

 The Prime Minister of Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, Simon Ekpa, said it will back all United Nations Human Rights Treaties in its coming Biafran Declaration Convention. 


Ekpa disclosed this in an X space meeting on Thursday. 

According to him, supporting all UN treaties on human rights is sufficient to amplify the continued marginalisation of the Nigerian government against Biafra and its people in the South-East region.

He noted that Biafrans have been under attack in the history of Nigeria since 1967. 

He reinterprets that the continued marginalisation of Biafra by the Nigerian government is the sole reason for self-rule. 

“That Biafra Government to assent to all United Nations Human Rights Treaties during the Convention. 

“We are agitating for Biafra independence due to the persistent marginalisation

by the Nigerian government,” he said. 


This comes as Ekpa announced November 28th to December 2nd 2024 for the Biafra Declaration. 

Recall that recently Ekpa sent a letter of invitation to the Nigerian government ahead of the conversion. 


Recall that since 2021, Nnamdi Kanu had been under detention by the Nigerian government over Biafra agitation.

Adeola Ajayi, the director-general of the State Security Service (SSS), has finally allowed lawyers access to Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, his special counsel, said on Monday. Mr Kanu, who is facing terrorism charges at the Federal High Court in Abuja, is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The IPOB leader has been in detention since he was repatriated to Nigeria from Kenya in June 2021 under controversial circumstances. His legal team has repeatedly accused the SSS of denying them access to Mr Kanu. Meanwhile, the judge, Binta Nyako, on 20 May this year, had ordered the SSS to allow Mr Kanu to receive visitors for three days a week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Chairman of the independent national electoral commission (inec) professor Mahmood yakub  said on Thursday that political parties taking part in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State will be expected to sign a peace accord on Friday, November 8, 2024, in Akure, the Ondo state capital.   Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko on Tuesday called for vengeance following what he described as attacks against supporters of his Pastef party by the opposition during the campaign for Sunday’s parliamentary elections. Sonko, who has been head of the government since it took office in April, spoke of clashes in the capital Dakar, the northern city of Saint-Louis and the central town of Koungheul.
